Namun, kekuatan dan ketahanannya sering kali ditentukan oleh hal-hal yang sangat kecil di permukaan, bahkan berukuran nanometer (sepersejuta milimeter).<\/p>\r\n<p>Untuk \u201cmelihat\u201d hal-hal kecil inilah digunakan AFM (Atomic Force Microscopy).<\/p>\r\n<h2>Kenapa AFM penting untuk Aluminium Alloy?<\/h2>\r\n<h4>1.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Melihat Partikel Penguat (Contoh: AA7075)<\/h4>\r\n<p>Kekuatan alloy seperti AA7075 dipengaruhi oleh partikel sangat kecil yang disebut <strong>presipitat MgZn\u2082<\/strong>. Ukurannya bisa hanya <strong>10\u201380 nanometer<\/strong>.<\/p>\r\n<p>Dengan AFM, peneliti bisa:<\/p>\r\n<ul>\r\n<li>Mengukur ukuran dan distribusi partikel<\/li>\r\n<li>Membandingkan hasil perlakuan panas (aging)<\/li>\r\n<li>Mengevaluasi kualitas proses produksi<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<h4>Artinya, kalau proses heat treatment berubah sedikit saja, AFM bisa membantu mendeteksi perubahan mikrostruktur sebelum berdampak ke kekuatan material.<\/h4>\r\n<h4>2.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Mengamati Awal Korosi (Contoh: AA2024)<\/h4>\r\n<p>AA2024 dikenal cukup sensitif terhadap korosi lokal karena adanya partikel intermetalik tertentu.<\/p>\r\n<p>Dengan AFM, peneliti bisa melihat:<\/p>\r\n<ul>\r\n<li>Awal terbentuknya \u201clubang kecil\u201d (pitting)<\/li>\r\n<li>Area sekitar partikel yang mulai terlarut<\/li>\r\n<li>Kedalaman pit yang bisa mencapai ratusan nanometer<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<p>Menariknya, AFM juga bisa digunakan <strong>secara in-situ<\/strong> (di dalam larutan korosif seperti NaCl), sehingga proses korosi bisa dipantau langsung.<\/p>\r\n<p>Manfaat praktisnya:<\/p>\r\n<ul>\r\n<li>Menentukan lokasi awal korosi<\/li>\r\n<li>Mengembangkan coating atau anodizing yang lebih efektif<\/li>\r\n<li>Meningkatkan ketahanan korosi komponen industri<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<h4>3.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Mengecek Kualitas Anodizing<\/h4>\r\n<p>Anodizing adalah proses pelapisan oksida pada aluminium untuk meningkatkan ketahanan korosi dan kekerasan permukaan. Ketebalan lapisan anodizing bisa mencapai <strong>5\u201311 mikrometer<\/strong>, dan kekasarannya bisa berbeda tergantung kondisi proses.<\/p>\r\n<p>Dengan AFM, kita bisa:<\/p>\r\n<ul>\r\n<li>Mengukur kekasaran permukaan (misalnya nilai Sq)<\/li>\r\n<li>Melihat apakah permukaan retak atau terlalu porous<\/li>\r\n<li>Membandingkan parameter proses anodizing<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<p>Ini penting untuk aplikasi seperti:<\/p>\r\n<ul>\r\n<li>Komponen aerospace<\/li>\r\n<li>Surface untuk adhesi coating<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<p>Aplikasi tribologi (gesekan dan keausan)<\/p>\r\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/dynatech-int.com\/id\/mengenal-nanoindenter-alat-untuk-mengetahui-sifat-mekanik-material-pada-skala-nano\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><br \/><\/a><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-8858\" src=\"https:\/\/dynatech-int.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/Picture2-300x222.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"222\" srcset=\"https:\/\/dynatech-int.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/Picture2-300x222.png 300w, https:\/\/dynatech-int.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/Picture2-16x12.png 16w, https:\/\/dynatech-int.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/Picture2.png 313w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>Evolusi topografi permukaan aluminium alloy AA5083 selama pengamatan AFM <em>in-situ<\/em> dalam larutan NaCl. (Sumber: diadaptasi dari Yasakau (2020), Corrosion Materials and Degradation)<\/p>\r\n<p>Contoh pada aluminium alloy AA5083 menunjukkan bahwa AFM mampu memantau inisiasi dan pertumbuhan pit secara langsung dalam larutan NaCl. Korosi tidak terjadi sekaligus, tetapi dimulai dari titik kecil yang semakin dalam seiring waktu. Setelah sekitar 130 menit mulai terlihat inisiasi pit, yang kemudian berkembang lebih jelas pada 220 hingga 450 menit perendaman. Grafik kedalaman pit memperlihatkan peningkatan hingga ratusan nanometer sebelum akhirnya mendekati kondisi stabil, membuktikan bahwa perubahan mikro pada permukaan dapat diukur secara kuantitatif dengan AFM.<\/p>\r\n<p>AFM membantu kita memahami aluminium alloy dari skala yang sangat kecil tempat di mana kekuatan, korosi, dan performa sebenarnya \u201cdimulai\u201d.
